Dental veneers are truly one of the most versatile cosmetic dental solutions on the market. Dental veneers can be used to quickly and permanently hide flaws with your smile. But just what is a dental veneer?

A veneer is a thin shell which we place over the enamel of your teeth. They are carefully matched to the natural shade of your teeth, and are designed to be stain-resistant. Veneers act as almost a laminate for your smile. If you need a full-set of dental veneers, we can actually cover your whole smile and make them as white and bright as you’d like.

At the Antoine Dental Center in Houston, TX, we offer two types of dental veneers: porcelain veneers and Lumineers veneers. In today’s post of our dental health blog, we’re going to tell you about some of the benefits of veneers and the differences between the types we offer.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are designed to look just like natural tooth enamel. They are superior in quality and construction to many types of veneers on the market. Generally, porcelain veneers take a few visits to apply. But after these painless appointments, you’ll have a beautiful new smile.

When we install porcelain veneers, we begin by planning your smile. We will take digital x-rays and dental impressions to ensure a perfect-fit. Your veneers are then custom-made for smile at a dental lab. We can even show you a preview of what you’ll look like in your new veneers!

We then prepare your teeth to receive the veneers. We generally have to trim some enamel off of your teeth teeth to provide space for the veneers. We can provide temporary veneers for you to wear while your permanent veneers are being made. This process is painless and can be performed under dental sedation or local anesthesia.

When your permanent veneers are finished, you will come into our office for a fitting appointment. We will permanently bond them to your smile. Just like that you’ll have a brand-new smile!

Lumineers Veneers

Lumineers have been trusted by dentists around the country for more than three decades. Lumineers serve the same purpose as porcelain veneers but have several advantages. The biggest difference is that Lumineers are much thinner than porcelain veneers. Although they are not quite as durable as porcelain veneers, Lumineers can last decades with proper care.

Because Lumineers are so thin, you may not even need anesthesia when we apply them. The entire process is generally quick and painless. We generally don’t have to remove much enamel to install Lumineers. That means more of your natural tooth is preserved. Best of Lumineers can be applied in just two visits!

At the Antoine Dental Center in Houston, TX, we use only the finest veneers. Our veneers last decades, however they still require good oral hygiene. We will provide you with instructions for maintaining your veneers, including the best methods for brushing and flossing with them.
